Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Stylist Checked Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16072163, registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU ("Stylist Checked", "we", "us", "our").
By creating an account or using the Stylist Checked app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What Stylist Checked is, and what it is not
Stylist Checked is a discovery and personal organisation app. It helps you find beauty professionals, save the ones you like, keep the looks that inspire you, and plan your own appointments and routines.
Stylist Checked is not a booking platform. We want to be direct about what that means:
- We do not take bookings, hold deposits, or handle payments between you and any professional.
- We are not an agent, employer, representative or partner of any professional listed in the app.
- We do not supply beauty services, and we are not a party to any arrangement you make with a professional.
- Any appointment you record in the app is your own note to yourself. Recording it here does not book it, confirm it, or tell the professional anything.
What "Checked" means. Our name reflects that profiles in our directory go through automated and manual review before they are published, to confirm that the account is a genuine, publicly available, UK-based beauty business. It does not mean we have verified anyone's qualifications, insurance, licensing, hygiene standards, training, or the quality or safety of their work. We do not endorse or recommend any professional. Please do your own checks before booking anyone, exactly as you would if you had found them yourself.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a contract. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity on your account.
3. Your account
You may delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used to harass or harm someone, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Some features require a paid subscription.
- Subscriptions are sold and processed through Apple, using the Apple ID you are signed in with. We never see your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings, not in the Stylist Checked app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Payment is taken by Apple at confirmation of purchase and on each renewal.
- Prices are shown in the app before you purchase and include VAT where it applies. We may change prices for future periods and will tell you before a change takes effect.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. We cannot issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store, though we will help you where we can.
Your legal cancellation rights. As a UK consumer you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. By starting to use a paid feature immediately, you may be agreeing to the service beginning before that period ends, and losing that cancellation right.
Founding member offer. If you took part in our founding member offer before launch, the specific terms you were given at the time apply alongside these terms. Where they conflict, the terms of the offer win.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you add: your saved looks, boards, plans, notes, photographs and preferences.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and process your content solely to operate the Services for you. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we are legally required to retain.
You must not upload content you have no right to use, content that is unlawful, abusive, or harassing, or images of another person who has not agreed to it.
6. Adding another person's details
You can add a beauty professional to your private list by typing in their details yourself. If you do:
- You confirm you are entitled to hold those details.
- The information stays private to your account. We never publish it, share it, or use it to build our public directory.
- You are responsible for what you enter. If that person asks us to act, we will comply with our obligations under data protection law.
7. The directory of beauty professionals
Our directory is built from publicly available business information on social media. Profiles are published only after review.
If you are a professional listed with us, you can have your profile corrected, claimed, or removed entirely by emailing privacy@stylistchecked.co.uk. You do not need to give a reason. Our Privacy Policy explains this and the basis on which we hold the information.
We do not publish reviews or public star ratings of any professional.
8. Doing it yourself
Some features let you plan and record beauty treatments you carry out yourself, including a steps list you write. Those steps are your own words. We do not supply, generate, check or approve them.
Beauty treatments, particularly on textured hair, can involve heat, chemicals, tension and products that cause reactions. You are responsible for your own safety. Patch test, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and seek professional or medical advice where appropriate.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use Stylist Checked to harass, defame or endanger anyone. Do not scrape, copy or resell our directory. Do not attempt to break, overload or reverse engineer the Services. Do not use the app for anything unlawful.
10. Our intellectual property
The Stylist Checked name, logo, app, design and directory compilation belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app. They give you no other rights.
11. Other platforms
The app works alongside TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and Apple. We do not control those services and we are not responsible for them. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
12. Availability
We work hard to keep Stylist Checked running but we do not promise it will always be available or error free. We may change, suspend or withdraw features. Where a change is significant we will tell you.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Subject to that:
- We are not responsible for the services any beauty professional provides to you, for their conduct, or for any loss, injury, damage or dissatisfaction arising from an arrangement between you and them. That arrangement is between the two of you.
- We are not responsible for the accuracy of information taken from a professional's public social media account, or for prices, availability or services that have changed since.
- We are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses.
- Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100.
14. Apple
You acknowledge that these terms are between you and Stylist Checked Ltd, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and where a change is significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change.
16. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Stylist Checked and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, liability and governing law, continue to apply afterwards.
17. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
